Intensive training on Organic Agriculture: FLORAMAD prepares to become experts and knowledge multipliers
The week of March 18, 2024, was characterized by intensive training for the Flora-of-Madagascar team. We had the great privilege of participating in a training on Organic Agriculture and Agroecology, prearranged by the KCOA – KHEA project (Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture in Africa – Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in Eastern Africa) in partnership with GSDM (Groupement Semis Direct de Madagascar) and SYMABIO (Malagasy Syndicate of Organic Agriculture).
The objective of the training was to “transform participants into experts in organic agriculture, ready to become knowledge multipliers.” The program included an in-depth exploration of organic agriculture practices and knowledge – from soil management to organic fertilization – as well as biological pest control and certified traceability. Additionally, participants were able to apply their learning during a field session, getting hands-on experience with soil textures and reinforcing their theoretical understanding.
Thanks to this training, the FLORAMAD team has equipped itself with key skills to become major players in the field of organic agriculture, thus able to bring significant contribution to a sustainable future
